Position: Tomasz Merder is employed as an associate professor at the Faculty of Materials Engineering and Digitalization of Industry, Department of Metallurgy and Recycling (Poland, EU).
He earned a master's degree (2001) with a specialization in computer science of production processes from the Faculty of Materials Engineering and Metallurgy, Czestochowa University of Technology (Poland, EU), a doctorate (2007) in metallurgy with a specialization in engineering of steelmaking processes from the Faculty of Process & Materials Engineering and Applied Physics Czestochowa University of Technology (Poland, EU), and a DSc degree in metallurgy from the Faculty of Materials Engineering and Metallurgy of the Silesian University of Technology (Poland, EU).
His research focuses on metallurgy in a broad sense, particularly extractive metallurgy and pyrometallurgy, with emphasis on steelmaking processes and heat treatment. He has strong theoretical and practical expertise in metallurgical process modeling, numerical simulations, and laboratory research using physical models. He has participated in numerous research and development projects and is a co-author of a patent.
His scientific achievements include numerous publications, with articles in peer-reviewed international and national journals. He is also the author of scientific monographs and a co-author of chapters in monographs. He has received multiple Rector’s Awards for scientific and organizational achievements. He serves as a reviewer for international scientific journals and has taken part in numerous study visits and professional training programs at leading academic and research institutions abroad.
