The presented results of the project encompass the effects of various cutting methods (laser, plasma, and CNC cutting) on the quality of the resulting edges, specifically focusing on nano and micrometerscale roughness. The research involved typical steel grades commonly used in the industry, including carbon and stainless steel. The objective was to correlate roughness measurements taken at the nanometer scale with optical images. The primary challenge of the project was to conduct measurements on actual cutting surfaces formed during equipment operation in industrial conditions. Statistical methods were employed to process the extensive dataset, comprising thousands of measured edges. The analysis of both AFM (Atomic Force Microscopy) and data obtained from optical microscopy and the laser profilometer was performed in the automatic manner. Thanks to the correlations established, methods for optimizing the cutting process and achieving results in line with industry standards were developed using artificial intelligence. This project had a practical, applied nature and relied on data from AFM, laser profilometry, and optical microscopy. Notably, the results from this project have been successfully implemented in the operations of Biga Stal Piotr Bicz Spólka Jawna, a company in which we take a special pride.
Research on environmental impact assessment in metal production continues to evolve. It is expected that the developing "chill-on-demand" system will be a revolution in the industry in minimising negative climate changes. It is used, for example, in industrial cans, but also for storing food products. Therefore, opportunities for this product are still being sought, mainly in the context of the possibility of recycling its steel and aluminium elements (HEU). The purpose of the research was to conduct a life cycle assessment (LCA) of a beverage can with a cooling system and to determine the eco-costs incurred during the life cycle of this product. Life cycle assessment was carried out on the ISO 14040 standard. The analysis was supported by FOOTPRINTCALC 1.2. calculator designed to measure and improve the environmental impact of products. The data were modelled for carbon footprint and eco-costs. The test results showed that the self-cooling beverage can produce in LCA: i) about 101.430 kgCO2e, ii) about 27.64 euro eco-costs, that need to be reduced to reduce environmental burdens. Future research will focus on analysing various types of production scenarios for this type of products.
The goal was to develop a model for effective quality management of cast products by integrally configuring quality management tools. Within the framework of the model, the output information from a given analysis step is the input for further research. Verification of the model made it possible to solve the quality problem - to identify the critical nonconformity (incorrect execution of the selection for valves in pistons) and its root causes (failure to provide adequate job documentation, inadequate management of the machine park and human resources. Regarding the identified causes, it was proposed that corrective and improvement actions be implemented. These actions included the execution of documentation, implementation of a comprehensive approach to maintenance of the machinery park using the TPM method, and implementation of training for production employees. Practical verification of the model confirmed its effectiveness. Further research directions will concern the expansion of the model, which will allow multifaceted analyses to be carried out to ensure the quality stability of production processes of cast parts.
Fluorspar is the commercial name, currently used in metallurgy. Usually it refers to crude or beneficiated material that is mined and (or) milled from the mineral fluorite (calcium fluoride, CaF2). From the point of view of ecology and working conditions, the use of fluorite as a slag-forming material causes very harmful fluorine emissions into the atmosphere. From the point of view of technology, it helps to reduce the viscosity of slag by liquefying it on one hand side, however increases the aggressive effect of slag on the refractory lining and shortens its durability on other hand side. We should remember, that the circular economy model (CE) relies on the fact that materials used in production circulate rather than become waste. That`s why, the authors of this abstract want to develop a new generation of materials - synthetic slag based on by-products from the production of ferroalloys. For this purpose, post-production slag, rich in Al2O3 and CaO, and some modifiers were used to correct the chemical and mineralogical composition, as well as to reduce the melting point of the developed refining mixtures. The chemical and thermodynamic aspects, were another advantage of developing such slags, because in the case of slag liquefaction via used calcium aluminates, the refining slag remains liquid for a long time, not only for a limited period of time, as is the case with CaF2 liquefaction. The use of three newly developed slags during secondary metallurgy treatment in steelmaking processes will allow to eliminate the use of fluorite (CaF2), which has many drawbacks. One of them is the negative effect arising outside the steel production, namely in the process of recovery of zinc from steel dust in the electrolytic process. The presence of fluorine in zinc-rich dusts collected on filters makes zinc recovery difficult. The elimination of fluorite will also reduce the fluoride content of steel dusts destined for zinc recovery.
The high pressure die casting (HPDC) is a technique used by various sectors of industry to produce parts quickly that meet high and repeatability quality requirements. The HPDC technique is used mostly by the industrial sectors such as automotive, aviation, energy, medicine and many others. For a mass production, the HPDC allows to produce part very fast and very cheaply also. The HPDC production process is done with an advanced machines with association of robots. Every part in a series is produced under the same parameters, that is why it is very important to keep casting parameters and machine, robots settings the same during whole series production. Casting parameters among others are cast alloy metallurgy, filling system design, casting technology elements geometry, and orientation. These parameters were fixed during reported examination. Authors change one of the HPDC machine parameters, which is the plunger motion scheme. Several second-phase plunger motion velocities were taken into account. Real experimental castings were obtained with different plunger velocity and analysed. The microstructure of those castings was analysed. During the research, a 3D model of castings and casting system was prepared on the basis of real casting system. This model was used for numerical analysis. Numerical simulations were performed with different plunger velocities. The results of both the experimental and numerical analyses were analysed with details to formulate the conclusions. On the basis of the obtained results, authors showed that second phase plunger motion velocity is an important factor, which can help to reduce casting porosity.

The activity of each manufacturing company in conditions of high competitiveness and crises that have occurred in recent years is exposed to a number of risks that make it difficult to maintain high financial liquidity. In order to provide the continuity of ongoing economic processes and to be able to develop, entities are forced to build optimal financial management strategies for them. Enterprises can choose between a conservative, moderate and aggressive strategy, which is largely determined by the way they manage their current assets and short-term liabilities. In the case of manufacturing companies, it is also not without significance that they are particularly sensitive to fluctuations in the economic situation and changes in the macroeconomic environment, which imply the availability of funds. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the financial liquidity management strategy in polish aluminum pressure foundries during the crisis In 2019-2022.
