H-Index: 17

Position: Professor in Silesian University of Technology, Faculty of Materials Engineering and Digitalization of Industry, Department of Metallurgy and Recycling

Scientific and research activity is related to the broadly understood extractive metallurgy, mainly in four research areas related to:

  1. mathematical and physical modeling of metallurgical processes, mainly aluminum refining processes, but also secondary steel refining processes,
  2. recovery of platinum metals (platinum, rhodium and palladium) from used car catalysts by hydro- and pyrometallurgical methods,
  3. recovery of metals from used waste materials, mainly printed circuit boards (PCBs), using hydro - and biohydrometallurgical methods,
  4. constitution of anti-corrosion metal coatings obtained by immersion method, testing their structure and properties.

She has extensive experience in research project implementation, including serving as a project leader in national and EU-funded projects, and is a co-author of a patent. Her scientific output includes numerous publications in peer-reviewed international and national journals, as well as academic textbooks, monographs, and chapters in monographs in the fields of chemistry, hydrometallurgy, and biometallurgy.

She has received multiple institutional awards for scientific, organizational, and teaching achievements and has been recognized for outstanding scientific publications. She serves as a reviewer for research projects and international journals. She has completed numerous research visits at foreign academic institutions and actively cooperates with international scientific and industry partners.

She actively supports the development of Polish science through the dissemination and popularization of research and innovation outcomes and is engaged in science outreach activities in chemistry and metallurgy, including initiatives for schools, Science Festivals, Researchers’ Nights, and Universities of the Third Age.
