Education and professional background
Mrs. Skotnicová has been an associate professor at the Faculty of Materials Science and Technology at VSB - Technical University of Ostrava since 2015. Her previous studies were also completed at VSB in the fields of Physical Metallurgy and Limit States of Materials (PhD.) and Physical and Materials Engineering (Master's degree).

Assoc. Prof. Skotnicová has completed several internships abroad:

Pedagogical activity
The teaching of professional subjects: Powder metallurgy, Theory of Production of Non-Ferrous Metals, Processing Technology of Metallic Nanomaterials, Materials Technologies, etc. Supervisor of bachelor and diploma theses. Supervisor of doctoral study programs „Materials Science and Engineering“ and "Chemical Metallurgy". Member of the doctoral studies boars "Materials Science and Engineering" and "Chemical Metallurgy". Guarantor of the Bachelor and Master study programme "Materials and Technologies for the Automotive Industry".


Scientific and research activities
Preparation of special alloys and compounds based on non-ferrous metals by vacuum induction melting, plasma metallurgy and electron beam zone melting; development and optimization of powder metallurgy processes for the production of selected types of materials and products (magnetic materials, materials for diamond grinding and cutting tools, etc.); post-processing of sintered components, castings and 3D prints by hot isostatic pressing; study of structural, mechanical and utility properties of materials; recycling of REM-based permanent magnets from WEEE and electric motors (strategy for collection and extraction of Nd-Fe-B magnets from WEEE and electric motors, development of recycling technology using the "magnet to magnet" method).

Head of research program 2: Development and optimization of processes of powder technologies for production of selected types of materials and products, which was solved at the Department of powder technologies. Main activities: responsibility for all staff of research program (20 members of research team); proposals of new directions of R&D and definition of crucial scientific-research activities; primary responsibility for the processing of technical documentations of equipment for public tender within department of powder technologies; responsibility for the effectivity of prepared and realized research activities; data preparation for monitoring report, etc. Research activities in the area of preparation and complex characterization of hard magnetic materials based on Nd-Fe-B.
