VSB - Technical University of Ostrava, fmr, Czech Republic, EU

Prof. Jiří Kliber graduated with honours from the Faculty of Metallurgy of the Czech Technical University in 1966. of the Technical University in the field of forming and heat treatment of metals. He joined Vítkovice Ironworks, cold rolling mill, worked as a foreman, then as a technologist and then as a welding technologist, in the Vítkovice boiler shop until 1975. In 1975, he was admitted to the Department of metal forming, Metallurgy faculty, in 1980, he defended his doctoral dissertation it the field of metal forming, in 1991 he was habilitated as associate professor and in 1998 he was appointed professor in the field of forming materials. From 2000 to 2022 he was the head of the Department of Materials Forming at the current Faculty of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering of the Mining University - Technical University of Ostrava.

His expertise focuses on the theory of forming, physical theory of plasticity, hardening and restoring processes of forming material, kinetic processes, precipitation, micro-alloyed steel, highly-strong steel (TRIP, TWIP, ...), to computer simulation of forming processes, plastometric testing (pressure test with the equal deformation, torsion test), thermomechanical forming methods. He has lectured and trained subjects: Theory of forming, Material forming, Metal forming, Controlled forming, Physical theory of plasticity, and Thermomechanical forming processes.

He supervised the projects of GACR (106/94/1130, 106/04/0601, 106/07/0631) and participated in the solution of grants 101/96/0506, 106/99/0824, 106/04/1452. He participated in the solution of MŠMT task LB 98 (infra), MŠMT task FRVŠ (2001) and (2005). He was a member of a research team of MŠMT MC 610605/1817/633 and MŠMT 6198910015. He participated in the solution of the MPSV RPIC-ViP (2004). He cooperated with foreign universities (AGH Cracow- the use of programs Elroll and Comp_axi, Silesian University of Technology in Katowice, BA Freiberg, DGPI Donetsk). He cooperated with the Czech practice (Study of restructuring of the Czech steel industry), in the Tandem and Impuls programmes (Mittal Steel, Třinec). From 1998 to 2005 he was a member of the Scientific Council Faculty of Management Czestochowa University of Technologyand lecturer at the same university. He has been a member of the CSNMT Board since 1992, Chairman of the ASM International Czech Chapter since 1999, co-organizer of the METAL conference, member of the Editorial Board of Metallurgy Journal (Croatia), member of the OK 01 Board of the GA CR since 2003, member of the POK 106 of the GA CR from 2003 to 2009, Chairman of the POK 106 "Metallurgy and Materials Engineering" of the GA CR from 2004 to 2006, and member of the Board of TAČR since 2012.

He has authored or co-authored more than 3500 scientific papers, mainly more than 220 in conference proceedings (52 abroad) and 82 articles in professional journals (39 abroad) and other publications.

Under his leadership, 6 graduants defended their work focused on material forming.
